IMG_1390Minggu pagi tanggal 09/05/2015, Bupati Cirebon Drs. H. Sunjaya Purwadisastra, MM,. M.Si., menyambut kedatangan 7 (tujuh) Srikandi dari Komunitas Motor Gede Women on Wheel (WOW) di Pendopo Jalan RA. Kartini Kota Cirebon. Hadir pada kesempatan itu Sekretaris Daerah, Kepala Badan Kepegawaian, Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Daerah, dan Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Cirebon.

            Ketua WOW Shirley Wenas mengatakan kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengangkat budaya lokal yakni untuk menghapus stigma negatif yang melekat pada komunitas motor gede. Kami juga ingin menegaskan bahwa komunitas Moge tidak hanya sekadar kumpul dan hura-hura, tetapi juga serius memperhatikan dan menjaga budaya bangsa Indoensia agar terhindar dari pengikisan karena kemajuan zaman serta teknologi. Disela-sela sambutannya, Shirley memperkenalkan rekan-rakannya yaitu, Inge Widjaja, Petty Febria I, Merry Narulina, Florence Simarmata, Meilana Laissegar dan Maureen Gunawan. Kami berangkat tanggal 8 Mei dari Monumen Nasional yang dilepas oleh Kementerian Dalam Negeri RI dan Gubernur DKI Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama menuju Cirebon dan finish di Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Sebelum acara puncak The First Indonesian Women Bike Week (IWBW) 15-16 Mei. Tujuh Srikandi yang merupakan anggota WOW ini akan melakukan kegiatan yang akan mengangkat budaya lokal di Kota yang disinggahinya.

            Bupati Cirebon Cirebon Drs. H. Sunjaya Purwadisastra, MM,. M.Si., mangucapkan terima kasih kepada ketua panitia  Indonesian Women Bike Week beserta rombongan yang menjadikan Kabupaten Cirebon sebagai salah satu tempat yang disinggahi. Dalam sambutannya Bupati juga mengatakan Kabupaten Cirebon punya komoditas unggulan yang berdaya saing tinggi, komoditas itu antara lain batik dan lukisan kaca yang memang sudah menembus pasar internasional. Untuk batik sendiri Kabupaten Cirebon punya motif khas yakni mega mendung yang berarti awan pembawa hujan sebagai lambing kesuburan dan pemberi kehidupan. Diharapkan dengan adanya kegiatan ini, maka potensi yang ada di Kabupaten Cirebon lebih tergali dan dikenal oleh masyarakat luas baik lokal maupun internaisonal.
