Dalam rangka Resepsi Peringatan Hari Pendidikan Nasional Tahun 2012, SMA Negeri 1 Sumber menggelar pentas seni pada hari Rabu, 02/05/2012 bertempat di SMA Negeri 1 Sumber Kabupaten Cirebon. Selain pagelaran seni juga diadakan kegiatan bakti sosial seperti khitanan masal terhadap 36 anak-anak yang tidak mampu.
Kepala SMA 1 Sumber, Drs. H. Tarno, M.Pd, melaporkan bahwa pagelaran seni merupakan unjuk kemampuan dari anak–anak didik di bidang ekstrakulikuler, khusunya seni musik, seni suara dan seni tari. Dimana seni ini merupakan bidang ekstrakuliker yang dikembangkan dalam rangka menyeimbangkan dengan peningkatan mutu akademis.
Sementara itu Kepala Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Cirebon, Drs. H. Kusnadi Muamarto, MM, menyampaikan tema Hardiknas tahun ini “Bangkitnya Generasi Emas Indonesia” ini artinya bahwa generasi yang akan datang harus bangkit menuju ke Era globalisasi menantang dunia, salah satu kebangkitan generasi adalah melalui jalur pendidikan. Oleh karenanya bahwa Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan mecanangkan generasi emas harus bangkit dan Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Cirebon telah melaksanakan itu, karena kami tahu bahwa generasi penerus harus ditingkatkan sumber daya manusianya melalui pendidikan diantaranya dengan melaksanakan pemenuhan sarana dan prasarana pendidikan. Tahun 2012 merehab gedung SD dan SMP yang rusak sebanyak 140 ruang belajar dan ditambah dengan berbagai macam multimedia dan teknik informatika serta laboratorium.
Bupati Cirebon Drs.H. Dedi Supardi, MM bangga akan keberhasilan SMAN 1 Sumber dengan prestasi dan karyanya. Beliau menghimbau kepada para kepala sekolah selain pintar agar ditanamkan budi pekerti yang luhur kepada anak didiknya sehingga diharapkan anak didik yang lulus sekolah selain pintar tetapi harus santun.
Dalam acara tersebut hadir wakil Bupati Cirebon, Muspida, anggota DPRD Kabupaten Cirebon, para Kepala Dinas, para Camat, Kepala Sekolah dan sejumlah undangan lainnya.
